Textbook Rental Information

This textbook rental program has been created with the help of the Madison College Student Senate. Together, the bookstore and the Student Senate are working to save students money! Specific courses have been selected for participation in the Madison Area Technical College bookstore textbook rental program. If you are taking one of these courses, you will notice a rental indication in the comment field upon selecting your textbook.

Rental Textbook Must be Returned:

  • On or before December 18, 2009 (for fall 2009 classes) and on or before May 14, 2010 (for spring 2010 classes) to the location it was rented from.
  • To rent books from the rental system:
    1. In store customers must have their Madison Colleg OneCard at time of rental.
    2. Online customers must supply Student ID number for verification of enrollment.
    3. Please indicate your student ID number in the shipping comments field near the end of the online ordering process.

Write/Highlight in Rental Textbooks:

  • Sparingly, please be considerate.

Drop a class/Withdrawal from school:

  • Please return the books immediately.

Eight week class:

  • Return book by the last day of class. (Next session will need to use it.)

Late book return:

  • Students returning textbooks after the last day of finals (December 18, 2009 for fall 2009 classes) (May 14, 2010 for spring 2010 classes) will be charged a $10.00 late fee and a hold will be placed on their student record.

Rental Textbooks Damaged or Not Returned:

  • The student is responsible for the difference between current new retail cost and the rental fee paid plus tax.
  • If payment is not received by the due date the $10.00 late fee per book will also be assessed and a hold will be placed on their student record.
The rental agreement reads as follows:

    Rental Customer Agrees to the Following:

  • I understand that all rental books are the property of MADISON AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE BOOKSTORE. I understand that all rental books are to be returned to the bookstore they were rented from no later than the last day (May 14, 2010) of the current semester. I understand that if this deadline is not met, I will be charged a late fee of $10.00 and a hold will be placed on my student record. I also understand that I will be charged the difference between the current retail price and the rental fee already paid plus tax for any rental book that is not returned by May 28, 2010.
